Patrol officers perform technical law enforcement duties in enforcing the laws, maintaining the peace and protecting Grantsville City citizens and their property.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:

1. Patrol city areas to deter and detect criminal activities.

2. Perform security checks on businesses, schools and homes.

3. Provide protection of persons and property against hazards including (but not limited to) fire, theft, injury, damage and accidents.

4. Enforce traffic laws; direct traffic and assist motorists, issue citations for moving violations, investigate traffic accidents.

5. Respond to calls for assistance; handle both criminal and civil disturbances.

6. Serve arrest warrants, civil papers and court papers.

7. Investigate crimes.

8. Enforce state and local laws by issuing citations or summons or by taking violators into custody.

9. Assist officers of other jurisdiction, ambulance and fire department when assistance is required.

10. Assist animal control.

11. Other duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. High school diploma or GED.

2. Be 21 years of age.

3. Be POST certifiable category 1 (preference will be given to current category 1 officers).

4. Possess a valid driver’s license.

5. Must relocate to Grantsville City.

6. No criminal record.

7. Be able to pass a written and POST physical test.
